Calafornia

We got to Tracy sunday evening and parked at the customers. On monday we made the delivery and ran to our next drop, Fresno. After we tipped we put our empty call in by satelite and got no response, so i phoned US despatch and they said i could go to Bakersfield for watermelons when i get assigned. So we waited and waited, waited some more and still no message. After about 4 hours i decided to book of and stay there until morning. What a truck stop that was, there were abandoned trucks and trailers that looked like they hadn't moved for years, packs of dogs roaming around, Barbara wouldn't go to the loo on her own. Hookers knocking on the door through the night, even beggars. The place was owned by a bunch of Sikhs who were called, believe it or not, GILL. Anyway we finally got our assignment the next day about 11am. We found the place, a little packing house in the middle of nowhere, and got loaded in 10 minutes. The run back north from there is brilliant. You climb up into the mojave dessert, passed edwards airforce base, then down out of the mountains into Nevada. So we drove straight through Las Vegas and parked north Las Vegas for the night. The next day we went into Arizona, then Utah then Idaho, and stopped at Idaho Falls. We ran from there up into Montana and to the border. As the melons were going to Edmonton, and i had to go through Lethbridge, we decided to park in the yard for the night. When we got up this morning, as we were opening the curtains, we got a message on the satelite telling us to drop the trailer in the yard and take a reset in Lethbridge. What a result so we bobtailed to laundrette, then the hotel to book a room and 2 spots at the bar!(we haven't had a beer for 4 or 5 weeks) Then we went to walmart and got a few bits, then took the truck back, locked her up, went straight to the bar and necked 2 beers. AWESOME. Barbara's chuffed to bits cos she's at the hairdressers, very easy to please after 5 weeks away. I think were back out sunday morning setting of to Columbus Nebraska. We like Nebraska, you can still smoke inside, so we can sit and have ciggie after tea. We've got some pics of the Calafornia run but i'll put them on later, cos we forgot the camera. ta ta for now

Calafornia bound

We're finally on our way to Calafornia. Picked up a loaded meat trailer in High river with 2 drops on Tracy and Fresno both for monday morning, so we're having a really steady run, 6 hours thurs, 5 friday and 7.5 today, which will leave us with 8 for sunday. We're sat in a flying j in Wells Nevada at the moment and its only 12 deg at 7pm. Last time i was here in april it was 40 deg c. Hopefully tommorow will be better. We go over the dessert past Reno and into Ca in the morning. Barbara's just made cheese burgers in the george forman, so i'm of for my tea. ta ta

updates

Well the rocky mountain trip went really well, but it is hard work. 1100 kms each way 13 hours driving and a day to do it in. Still it was enjoyable, saw some deer and a couple of bears, but i was going too fast for Barbara to get the camera out. When we returned from Vancouver we loaded in Calgary with two drops, Minniapolis and Mason City which is a nice little 3 day run. From Mason City they reloaded us out of Little Chute which is just down the road from Green Bay Wisconsin. We are now sat in a flying j truckstop in Fargo with a full load of pizza's on, bound for Calgary. When i get time to download the camera i'll try and get some more pics on here.
